If you like me were wondering what the heck Mythsmolt is then here is the answer. Mythsmolt is apparently part of smolt which is part of Mythvantage. http://www.mythvantage.com/smolt.php
There now when someone does a search for mythsmolt they will find an answer.

The mythsmolt plugin was already there in R5.5 as one of the standard KnoppMyth FE plugins. Smolt is a general Linux hardware info gathering and reporting utility and mythsmolt provides a UI front end to it.

Oddly it's not in either the official or unofficial plugins lists:

The idea behind adding Smolt to KnoppMYTH and now LinHES is that to assist in a number of areas. If you are having an issue and don't know how to tell us what hardware you have, you can look up your UUID and then we can look at the system specs from there.

It is also a very good tool to see what hardware LinHES is being installed on, so when moving forward you can look at the data and say, OK I am looking at dropping support for device xyz how many people are currently using that. You can look up that data in a jiffy and workout if 2 people are using it or 200.

I requested this feature be added to R6 many moons ago and Cecil ported it to R5.5. It is not in the offical or unoffical plugins because I understand that it is something that is unique to LinHES.

The links that mattbatt gave to mythvantage are miss leading in that the data presented there has no association with LinHES. I can't at the moment remember the link for the LinHES Smolt repository.

Sorry Girkers
Thanks for the info I never had anything against it just couldn't figure out what it was. I think it's a great idea. Someone more knowledgeable about it than me should maybe write it up in the wiki.

Is this survey mechanism something that is automatically enabled or something that I have to enable \ configure?

gatorback,

I believe the process is automatic when you install the system, it will ask if you want to submit your hardware. Nothing that you have to do as far as I can remember.

Is there a command that returns the UUID for this webpage:
