It stopped working for me about 3 weeks ago on R5.5. It was working on R6 last weekend.

yep when I first installed R6 it didn't work, then one day it did. I remember reading that apple was trying to block "non-apple players" that is why I asked.
I really wish that someone other than Crapple hosted all these movie trailers. Why isn't yahoo or Google hosting the videos. You would think that movie producers would want their advertisements everywhere for everyone to see.

Yup... Looks like they may have made modifications again. You can use Hulu Desktop (search for trailers) or Miro Player.

where is the home of this addon? Where can I go to find the the people working on this problem? I'm assuming it isn't here.

Also I just subscribed to the Hulu Trailers feed http://www.hulu.com/trailers

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO...... is install the Hulu desktop then create an account with Hulu (easiest on their website), and subscribe to the Trailers feed and any other show feed you are interested in watching. When you launch Hulu it should play whatever is next in your subscriptions.

Since installing R6 about 3 weeks ago Apple trailers have been intermittent. When it fails, I see the following errors:

Code:
Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: apple.com
Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: www.apple.com
Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: www.apple.com
DEBUG: /usr/LH/bin/mplayer-wrapper.pl's player command is: *** mplayer-resumer.pl -vo xv,x11, -vc , -vf pp=lb, -fs -zoom -really-quiet -user-agent QuickTime/7.6.2 -cache 16000 "http://apple.com/movies/sony/2012/2012-tlr2_h640w.mov" 2>&1 | ***
Unable to open http://apple.com/movies/sony/2012/.2012-tlr2_h640w.mov.resume for writing at /usr/LH/bin/mplayer-resumer.pl line 153.

As you can see, the script tries to fake Apple out by the QuickTime/7.6.2 user agent string. At the time being, this apparently is not getting around them. I've seen some who say telling mplayer to prefer ip4 will get rid of the errors; others suggest it is simply Apple refusing the connection. As of 12 November I cannot view any of the trailers, although they did work in the last 3 days.

Replacing all the "http://apple.com" with "http://movies.apple.com" in appletrailer.xml got my trailers working again. I opened up the apple.pl script in /usr/share/mythtv/mythstream/parsers but I don't see where (if) it is building the bad url. Maybe Apple is providing bad info at the xml site the script seems to be accessing.

Ok looks like apple.pl isn't related to Myth AppleTrailers. The relevant files seem to be:

Code:
etc/cron.daily/trailers
usr/bin/fix_aple_url.sh
usr/bin/loading.sh
usr/bin/myth_trailers_grabber

Interestingly enough, the fix_aple_url.sh [sic] seems to be changing the url from movies.apple.com to apple.com. I'm going to remove that from the trailers command in cron daily and see if it starts working on its own again without me having to fix the urls every day.

Did it work?

So far it's been through 2 updates and works fine. I wouldn't exactly call the issue fixed though since apparently Apple is constantly using new tactics to keep us from watching their commercials. Let's just say for now the fix_aple_url.sh script isn't required.

I don't know if this is a Myth error or if Apple is messing with the url to make this harder, but my trailers run from last night resulted in http://apple.com... urls which don't work (remember I already disabled fix_aple_url.sh). I just re-ran trailers manually and got the correct http://movies.apple.com... urls. Just to be sure the fix_aple_url.sh script isn't being run by another process, I renamed it. We'll see if this fix holds.
