| Post subject: | How does LinHES networking work? |
Does anyone know how the networking is done with LinHES? I started having problems with my network not coming up during boot. I went onto the Arch wiki and read up on setting up a network. It basically said configuring and starting the network is done in the /etc/rc.conf file which I checked and everything was fine. BTW if I manually started the network via /etc/rc.d/network start every thing was fine. A friend of mine told me about LinHES configuration -> Network settings under Service menu, I set the static IP address needed using the Network Settings menu and all was fine. I went back to /etc/rc.conf to see what it had changed to learn my mistakes only to find that nothing had been changed... So you question is: What did setting the Network Settings in LinHES do to fix my network problem? Thanks munga |

Thanks for that. So does this mean the /etc/rc.conf file is not used for networking at all? and where does the /etc/net/scripts/network.init script get called from? munga. |

Q1: As far as I know, rc.conf is not used for networking at all. Q2: It's called from /etc/runit/1 |
