Post subject:  xine and thin blue line

So reading the forums I was able to get rid of the blue line from mplayer used for watching dvd's. Using -vo sdl works fine. The comp is fast enough to keep up. However, I have switched to xine for dvd playback because I do not have the stuttering issues yet, so it works great. I do though have a thin blue line at the top of windscreen content. I think I read that this is something like the x background color or something. Is there an equivalent way of getting rid of the blue line in xine. What causes this?

To answer my own question in hopes it later helps some one else.

Using xine for dvd playback is great. However with the FX5200 video card I picked up to better the quality of tv out, I ran into a few problems. Blue lines appear at the top of both mplayer and xine. The problem seems to be the Xv extentions in both cases. In mplayer this is removed with:
Code:
-vo sdl

and in xine:
Code:
-V XShm

Both of these are entered in the playback settings for their respective MythTV functions. I believe there is a hardware decoding advantage to using the Xv extensions, however, with the thin blue line, it is just not acceptable for Video and DVD playback. With over-scan, you do not see it when watching live or recorded TV.

I found this message at the xine-users mailing list archive:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/mess ... id=6855494

It claims that you can adjust XV_COLORKEY to get rid of the blue line? That way you wouldn't have to turn off XvMC playback.

Interesting that it's only with tv-out playback...
