Post subject: | dialup issue |
I'm a relative linux newbie, especially with respect to networking. I can't get broadband where I live, so I'm stuck with dialup. I get dialup to work to download the tv schedule with no issue, but when I plug in a LAN cable to connect to my local network MythTV tries to look across my network instead of my dialup connection. Since I want to have my myth box log in automatically at night, I can't leave my box connected to my network. Any ideas? |

I think you need to learn how the linux routing system works. I haven't done dialup on a linux machine in MANY years, nor did I ever need to do it on demand, so I have NO idea how it works. But it seems to me that your routing table isn't set up properly. Specifically, try checking out this chapter of a ppp-howto: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/PPP-HOWTO/c1482.html It may not tell you everything you need to know, but it should be a good starting point. |
