Post subject: | No sound in recording, but working in live TV |
Mybox is running quite well, but there is still one annoying problem that would like to get rid of: When I program something for recording, the record works but is without sound, unless I use the "C" key to switch it to tuner0 (tuner0 is the right one). This is only needed once after power on. But this is not needed for live TV, that works fine without changing the tuner. But when I start a on the fly recording from live TV the sound is gone as well. Even more, after such a recording the sound is gone also in live TV, but comes back when I hit the "C" key. It looks as if live TV and recoding would use a different setup routine. Any ideas? (BTW, yes, I have searched the archives, but did not find a match) Box: R4V4 on K6/550, Gigabyte board, 160GB HD, PVR350 using their TVout |

I had something similar, except in my case sometimes the sound would be disabled after starting a recording and it would stay disabled unless the msp3400 module was reloaded. In most cases it would work fine. Fortunately I found the solution to my problem. The problem hasn't occured since in my case. It may work in your case as well. This is where I found a solution to my problem: http://www.poptix.net/ivtv/May-2003/msg00474.html My /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv looks like this: Code: alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-61 lirc_i2c options ivtv debug=0 ivtv_pal=1 tuner=28 options tuner pal=1 options saa7127 enable_output=1 output_select=0 pal=1 options msp3400 once=1 simple=1 standard=0x8 add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 saa7127 tuner add above ivtv lirc_dev lirc_i2c post-install ivtv /usr/local/bin/test_ioctl -d /dev/video0 -u 0xff |

well in my experience if you are using the coax input then you just set it to tuner0 from the get go and never attempt to use anything else, but I do not have a pvr350, and I am not using a cable or sat box I am using analog cable. And no I've never heard of a problem like yours anywhere before, but I have not been on the mythtv mailing list for a while now. |

One difference that I found between cases where sound is in and when is not is in the codec section of test_ioctl -C With sound: audio 0x00e9 w/o sound: audio 0x00e9 Does anybody know what that parameter does and whether that could be the culprit? |

sorry, but I'm struggling to see the difference between "audio 0x00e9" and "audio 0x00e9" ![]() tvboy wrote: One difference that I found between cases where sound is in and when is not is in the codec section of test_ioctl -C

Good catch, bad typo. Should read: With sound: audio 0x00e9 w/o sound: audio 0x00a9 |
