Does Jamu and MythWeb play nice on LinHES 6.03?

Specificaly can one use Jamu as the script to update your metadata via MythWeb?

The reason for asking is that the old tmdb script is no longer there.

Jamu is to complicated, and doesn't seem to work out the box.
I don't feel like messing with pacman all day to get it working.
I'm sticking with mythvideo-scanner - it rocks and does not seem to be phased by storage groups and 0.23's database to much.

I agree mythvideo-scanner is very nice and automatic.

jamu is not too difficult to use. I use it only for recorded shows though. There is a sample command line for this which you just put in a cron job and it takes care of everything else.

During my last install I looked a JAMU and what a convuluted muck the config file is. I appreciate that you need to configure some things, but when you compare it to mythvideo-scanner, it doesn't even come close.

except for one thing. mythvideo-scanner doesn't handle recorded tv shows AFAIK. I use jamu strictly for that.

No mythvideo-scanner doesn't handle recorded TV unless you move the files into the Video section, then it handles them fine.

I've had no issues with Jamu on 6.03. I agree the setup isn't as straight forward as it could be but now that I've over the learning curve I find it to work very well and I love having the art for both my videos and my TV shows.

I've not personally tried mythvideo-scanner but have heard very good things. I've thought about making the switch several times but at this point Jamu is doing everything I need and anytime I try to "fix" something that isn't broke I end up with something that is broke (and an unhappy wife).

Martian,

Just to give you an idea on one of the main differences between JAMU and mythvideo-scanner, there is no configure file for mythvideo-scanner. It works off the name of the file, so if you file is named correctly it works beautifully.

Hi All,

Thanks for the awesome comments about mythvideo-scanner. If anyone could enlighten me on how the artwork works for the recordings section, i'd be happy to add support.

Martian: Please stick with Jamu, i don't want to be responsible for an angry wife :-)

LOL - Don't worry, even if it was your fault she would still blame me!

EDIT: Next time I break my Myth box I will give you script a try. Until then I'm still sticking with "if it ain't broke don't "fix" it.

Cool.

It is not complicated. Basically it pulls in a choice of Fan Art from thetvdb.com and sets that as the background on the Watch Recordings menu when you select a particular series. Without looking at the myth code or jamu script, I don't know exactly what method it uses or what directory it puts it in. But it is a very nice feature!

What would be even nicer (if the theme allows this) is to have the main fan art when you select the show name but when you select an episode it it pulled in the Episode fan art. Similar to what you do today with directory structures in MythVideo. Today Jamu/Myth only shows Fan Art in both cases and this may in fact be a theme or myth limitation.
