i have just moved my mythtv from my 20" tv to my 32", but when i did this my whole display turned black and white....after looking around on the fourm i found that one fix was to go into the XF86-4 file and edit a line to "composite". i have downloaded nano by doing the apt-get install nano and that worked, but when i try to edit or even get into the /ect/X11/XF86-4 it says no directory. i cant even cd my way into /ect with out it saying no directory...can anyone help me get to the XF86-4 file plz |

one problem is that it's "etc" not "ect" ![]() The config file is /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 |

You will also need to login as root so that you have permission to save the file. If you are logged in as mythtv or anyother user (beside root), just type su (enter). Type in your password. I dont know how to use nano, but to edit this with vi: vi /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 (Everything in linux is case sensitite!) Page or arrow down to the line you want to change (probably down around line 99) Press Insert key type what you want to change. Press Escape Type :wq (colon, w, q (enter) Restart |

I wouldn't think it will make any difference between the two TV sizes. I would guess that maybe your video card or video cable or even the svideo in the tv may be loose or bad? Can you try it using RCA cable or Standard cable instead of the s-video cable? I would also suggest to make sure that the cables are good quality and well shielded... |
