I am new to this so bear with me if I make incorrect assumptions about Knoppmyth, each wrong assumption brings a new lesson learned (sometimes the hard way)

I am about to embark on a project to build a backend unit. I have a good basic understanding of the hardware issues I just want some input into the software and more specifically the interaction between Starchoice and Knoppmyth.

Has anyone setup a dual receiver system using Starchoice?
Where do the TV listings come from? Zapit? Has anyone managed to use the Starchoice listing from within Myth or do we need to grab it from a third source?

I have searched for Starchoice related posts but only two show up.

I checked zapit and they do have Starchoice. It is canadian similar to ExprexVu.

I was thinking.......if the receivers handle the tuning of the channel do I really need a Hauppauge PVR 250 card or is there other benefits like the encoding capabilities (keeping the driver issue in mind as well)???

IF I don't need the PVR250 what are some good "tv in" cards?

well if you want to use the PVR side of myth at all, you need to get the video signal into the PC some how.. so yes you need a 250.. or if you want the cheaper.. software based 401...yuck.. if you can at all afford it go with a 250 card.. if not the haupauge 401's do work.. i have both. so until all Sat companies switch to a firewire feed as required by the FCC july 2005 ish. we need the capturecards..

you say that like the firewire interface is a good thing.

once they mandate digital only interfaces then the drm will come into play and we won't be able to record and do what we want with the feed.

No i totaly agree Xsecrets.. IT SUCKS the #@%#@^@#^@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate it.. however the firewire MIGHT be the only good thing to come out of it.. Firewire (from what i understand) will not use the broadcast flagging, BUT.. (you know there is a but) it will only use 480p.. not 1080i or 720p. Im warming up my solding iron for july 2005.. can you say replace the eeprom!
