Post subject:  R5 question and comment

As maybe some of you guys noticed i love mythphone.. or at least the concept of it. will R5 support it out of the box? or will this be a BYOB (bring your own bag) setup like mythnotify?

In releated news i have found a internal CHEAP ($16 retail) that works fine in knoppmyth. it sells under the name "Nspire"
http://www.theboyz.biz/product_info.php?cPath=30&products_id=3887&osCsid=8f0f37d6a7815ffd08ad4cf577207a64
i have NO IDEA who these people are, it was the only link i could find in short notice. the linux drivers that came on the CD didnt work, however i did download the new ones, and they compiled and setup nicely..
I bought mine from a little hole-in-the-wall shop for $16 retail. i couldnt get mythnotify working (didnt try that hard), but i was able to dial out and use internet just fine! maybe an idea for off the shelf modem to support?

My policy is simple, I'll only include packages that are official supported. I won't patch MythTV or any module. I may include third party modules in the future.

Ok great.. my question kinda still remains, because mythbrowser is official, but not supported. And i know it fouls things up, and i am NOT compliaing!! :) and i know it will be in r5, however mythphone is Officially part of .16, and i was really wondering if you see a problem incorperating it in knoppmyth?

And if you search the forum, you'll know why MythBrowser isn't included... The question may not have been answered in the manner you wanted it to be, but it was answered.

as i illuded to.. i know why mythbrowser wasnt included..and totaly understand.. i am not critizing at all! Your first answer was.
I only support official mythtv programs. that didnt answer my question at all because, mythbrowser was official, but wanst compatible with knoppmyth. the long and short of it was. Is mythphone part of your plans? im not sure why you seem to have attitude towards what i said? did i sound rude? that was not my intent.. It is, i feel a fair and never asked question. If now is not the time to ask for whatever reason, i understand. I just dont think i deserved to be snipped at..

waiting to be flamed..

Why would I flame you? The fact of the matter is that I dislike taking questions about R5. R5 is being builf from scratch and will include the latest MythTV at the time of it's release and all modules (which I think has been stated before...).

Hi,

A simple question:
Does anyone knows which kernel does V5 have built-in?

Reg /T

there is no V5. If you are talking about R4V5 I think it's 2.4.25, or somewhere very close to that, if you are talking about the as yet unreleased R5 then it will have 2.6 kernel, my guess would be 2.6.9, because of some of the big issues in 2.6.8

Post subject:  Who is TheBoyz.biz?

gr8nash, I saw your comment and just wanted to follow up. We (TheBoyz.biz) are a JV between an esablished corporate / government reseller and a geek. The reseller in question prefers to remain unknown, as they are, in some cases, competiting with their existing customers.

The geek (that's me) has known these guys for a lot of years, and they finally talked me into putting up a web presence for them. We're real, honest people located just east of Atlanta. I won't plug our products or prices overtly, but you'll probably see us on Froogle a lot.

We've also recently added USPS shipping for most items, in an effort to control customer shipping costs - though you might like to know.

well not to be mean to you wcdw, but I don't know how much I would trust this site. I found an error in the price of a motherboard in the specials section was listed for over $10,000 marked down/up from $111. A typo I can understand that, but then I went and sent an email to the address on the contact page, and it doesn't seem to exist. I would think a responsible business would at the very minimum make sure that thier contact addresses worked.

I don't consider that mean, Xsecrets. And you can bet *I* was quite surprised when I found specials for huge negative numbers! (And only because someone created a huge order that totaled out to something like $20 ;)

The site is only about four months old, and I am still expanding it, adding products, adding features, et alia. However, we do have several thousand items in our catalog - in many cases with the lowest cost - and we *do* believe in customer service.

We had another price that was bad (bad manufacturer data feed); that one actually got ordered, and we honored the purchase despite taking a loss on the deal. We don't just want to sell you something; we want you to appreciate the site and the service enough that you become repeat customers. (And eligible for 'good customer' discounts. <g>)

I do recognize that on-line purchasing is a very individual thing. However, I think that if dig into things like our privacy policy and our attitude towards customer service (as witnessed at least partially by me being here ;), you'll find a lot of positives.

I AM biased, of course, but I've also been an almost exclusive on-line shopper for many years now, and so I'm pretty familiar with what is out there.

(We also welcome site suggestions!)
