My 0.15 backend has been working flawless for quite a while now, but in the last week, I've had a number of recordings end up as just 29MB files that obviously don't contain any video. I'll reboot, it'll be OK for a few recordings, then the same thing occurs. My syslog is full of a lot of:

Code:
 VSYNC HSYNC OFLOW RISCI
Sep 23 08:00:18 mythtv kernel: bttv0: reset, reinitialize
Sep 23 08:00:18 mythtv kernel: bttv0: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).
Sep 23 08:00:18 mythtv kernel: bttv0: timeout: drop=27 irq=879438/879438, risc=2713c03c, bits:

and my mythtvlog has a lot of:

A search of the forum pointed me to checking my hdparm for DMA access, but it is enabled...any other ideas? I don't think I've installed anything that would have caused any dependancy conflicts, nor have I made any other changes. I'm using a Pinnacle PCTV Pro card.

Thanks for any input...

well I don't see why this would cause the problems you are having, but if you haven't made any other changes to the system I would check and repair your database if needed. there is a sticky on how to do it.

Whoa, pretty much ALL my tables needed to be fixed...I'll see if this helps.

Is this something that should be done regularly via cron or at boot time?

Thanks!

This is usually a sign of some kind of unclean exit or shutdown.

- Does your box have a UPS and appropriate software to shut it down in an orderly fashion if the power fails? A UPS is cheap insurance against problems like this, not to mention hardware damage.

- Do you have other people in the house who are likely to power off the sytem without doing a clean shutdown? If education doesn't help you may want to disable or block the power button.

This can also happen if you suffer backend software crashes, but I can't remember the last one of those I saw.

I know we lost power over labor day weekend, and my wife bumped into the power switch by accident last week, but I've disconnected it since. Might have to get a UPS just in case, especially for the xbox-frontend (hard to run fsck without a keyboard ;)) Maybe that was the problem...it correlates well with when I started seeing these problems.

Thanks,
Mike
