Ok, I just got knoppmyth installed in a test system, it's a VIA EPIA CL10000 with 256 megs of ram, 10 gb hard drive, and Lite-On 16x DVD drive. I plan on getting an EPIA M10000, but I wanted to see if knoppmyth would work well on the 10000 CPU. I do not have a TV tuner card in the system since I don't have that yet.

Anyway, I tried to rip a dvd, and also play a dvd, and it starts to read the dvd but doesn't do anything else. It just sits there and reads the DVD. I let it sit for about 10 minutes but it didn't do anything.

I'm able to rip audio cd's just fine, but I can't get it to rip or play a DVD. Anyone know what's up here and how I might fix it once I get the rest of the parts for the system and reinstall?

And also, anyone out there with an EPIA M10000, how does it work for you?

If you are trying to rip an encyrpted DVD, KnoppMyth doesn't support this.

But just cause it's not supported don't give up a couple of quick searches might just reveal some interesting info.

Xsecrets,

I am doing a lot of work with some MCE apps in the SDK in which I launch ISO's rip'd from DVDs with meta-data and the like - DVD Jukebox.

I am a very honest Linux novice, and am just getting my system to a point where I can discover the finer points. Could you please let me know how to best tackle the DVD and or Video jukeboxing abilities of MythTV. I'd like to catalog and be able to launch (if possible) ISO's, VIDEO_TS, MPEG, AVI....

But mostly add meta-data. This is one of the big reasons I went to Myth - I must admit that:

Got me very excited.

Thx for your expertise and help of this forum.

I am having a similar problem. I have a EPIA M10000 with a generic Lite-On DVD drive. It freezes when I try to play the DVD. Note: I am not trying to rip the DVD, just trying to play it. I hit <ctrl><alt><f1> and get this error repeating over & over: "I/O error: dev 0b:00, sector 973512" with the sector number changing.

btw, I'm also a Linux novice, so be gentle :)

Someone else had a similar error to this not too long ago... Turns out the DVD was encypted. KnoppMyth doesn't support encrypted DVDs. Perhaps a search of the forum will come up with another solution...
