I was wondering if anyone knows what the version of BTTV is in release R4V2. I seem to be having problems with version Bttv 0.9.15 but I didn't have any problems with the version that came with R4V2. Any help would be appreciated. Note, I did boot up the R4V2 cd and I wasn't able to determine the version that way.

Thanks!

the problem is not the bttv version per se it is the v4l2 patches that were added after R4V2. they have some ill effects on bttv on occasion. if you are having the red picture issue it has a resolution here on this forum if you search for it.

My system used to be very stable with R4V2 but now occasionally when my BTTV tuner starts to record I get random crashes. I didn't have that problem before I upgraded to R4V5. I just thought I could revert back to the previous driver version. My pictuer is great, I am just having random lockups during recordings and sometime the picture goes completely dark about 30 minutes into a recording or while watching live TV.

I appreciate the help... I have done a search on bttv and dark and read the entries. It seems that the bug started with bttv version 0.9.12. I reviewed many of the posts and unfortunately, the only shure fire solution I seem to have found has been to revert back to R4V2. That seems totally unacceptable.

1. I have already recompiled bttv-0.9.15 (still have bugs)
NOTE: this version of bttv was introduced in version R4V4. according to the change log unfoutunately, the change log doesn't indicate what version this was an upgrade from hence my question??????.
2. I have tried stable alsa versions of the 9.8, 1.05, 1.06 and 1.07 incarnations (still have bugs)
3. I have tried too many version of ivtv to even mention here and suffice it to say, the only version I have truly found to be stable is the version that was in R4V2. ivtv-0.1.9+m179....
4. I tried to recompile the kernnal but I was unable to get xwindows to start consistently... Didn't spend much time working on that problem.
5. I recompiled mythtv version 1.6 (still have bugs)

Do you see where I'm going with this... I have already tried just about everything I can think of and I am still having random crashes whenever my bttv card records. My system would go for about 45 days without a reboot prior to my "upgrade" from r4v2, mythtv .15. So, if there is a post hiding someplace that offers a potential fix that is different from what I have already tried then I would appreciate being given a link to it. Otherwise, maybe someone could tell me what version of the bttv driver was used in R4V2.

Thanks!!!

Oh yes, one more thing. I have tried the video4linux CVS snapshot but I have not been able to get it to compile. I just get errors in one of the headder files. I spent some time trying to figure out the problem but I have not been successful.
