Please bare with me as im a newbe to this whole thing ( but loving it )

Here's what i have:

AMD 1ghz Duron
ATI Radeon 7000 w/ tv out
PVR-250 w/remote control
(Pvr rev chip spec Ntsc -J 32032 rev b182 CX23416-12 )
Asus A7V MB
120 gb Maxtor
512 memory
etc...

I've downloaded and installed Knoppmyth R4V5
Everything went smooth..now my questions

Im only using one Mythbox right now..once i get this working I might start
messing with the whole Frontend box / backend box setup

1: Do I use DCHP Broadcast or not ?

2: When it ask for host name mythtv is filled in by default
do i use this or another name ?

3: When i set up the Tuner card ..do I use 127.0.0.1 for the Server IP ?

I've set it up with DHCP brodcast, mythtv as the hostname and used 127.0.0.1 as th server IP address. I picked the PVR-250 under the capture card, I;ve setup the channel listings and i've setup the input device.

When i run this thing and watch tv all i get is snow...I can change the channel...I can see the channel number and channel detail...

Help ! is there anything else i need to do

katso

the 250 snow issue is a common one... i had some problems with it as well.... if you search the forum, you will find many posts about it.

It is easily resolved by updating the IVTV drivers.
You can find it at.... http://205.209.168.201/~ckennedy/ivtv/

Also, you might check this post for other general info:

I found one write up on the wiki, but it is a bit sparse and potentially misleading for a newbie... The first thing you need to do is find and download the right source bundle. You'll also need to be logged on as root to compile it. This post has most of the details you need...
