Post subject: | No TV out but monitor works |
The other thread got deleted so the short version is: TV and monitor both work until the system boots and there's anything graphical then the TV shuts off. If I hit ctrl-alt-F1, both then work again. Xsecrets, I'm pretty sure this is the thread you're referring to http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=935 but how do I add that source to apt-get? Will the line in /etc/apt/sources.list look like this: "deb http://www.winischhofer.net/sis/debian/ stable unstable" and then I "apt-get update" and "apt-get install sisxdriver" ? |

sources.list should have deb http://www.winischhofer.net/sis/debian/unstable ./ then apt-get update apt-get install x-driver-sis from the page Please ignore the "sisxdriver" package. It is empty and only there for transitional reasons. |

ok tv output is working and I got the tuner working by changing the tunerid. My problem now is that the channels aren't right. The program guide has it right but the channels are in the wrong spots. For example, AnimalPlanet is channel 57 but in order to watch Animal Planet, I need to tune to 58. Myth knows however that it's supposed to be 57. There are alsseveral channels that come in black and white so what I believe is happeneing is the frequencies are off and the error is compunding so some channels in the midrange are coming in B&W while higher ones are an entire channel off. Whenever I search, people either have just a couple wrong channels or they can't get te listings correct so I'm not sure where to look from here. I'm thinking I may have to play with the channel lineup settings through mythweb but something tells me it's more serious than that. |

ok, I see the entry about "Canada Cable" so I went looking for info on editing the /etc/modules.conf but the file itself says do not edit. Is it ok to edit this file or do I instead edit other files like /etc/modules/ivtv and ivtv0 and ivtv1 ? I'm sorry I'm so helpless but I'm very very new to this. I'm also trying to get the second tuner working but theres a lot of info on that so I can hopefully figure that one out myself |

debian based distributions are a bit different you do not ever edit modules.conf directly. you need to edit the files in /etc/knoppmyth/moudules and then run update-modules. |

After dinner and with a clearer head, I fixed my second tuner. Still trying to figure out this channel tthing though. I'm using PVR-250s so I thought I'm not using bttv at all or is it still used at some level? |
