Post subject:  "F" key does nothing - can't adjust brightness etc

I have a KnoppMyth r4v5 system acting as a frontend/backend running on a HP Pavilion with an Athlon 2400+ and a PVR-250 card (this one's a tuner type 39). For the most part it's running great and I'm now in that "fine tuning" phase.

I'm using the computer monitor to play back TV, and the video is pretty dark. (As an aside, when video plays back over an XBox front end, it looks fine).

So I tried using the "F" key to adjust playback brightness and therein lies the problem: hitting the "F" key does nothing. The "G" doesn't work during playback either. The "M" key brings up the OSD, however there is no "adjust picture" choice.

Also, when watching live TV, the "G" key brings up the record picture adjustment, but the "F" key still doesn't do anything.

Any ideas on where to look or how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

thanks,
Russ

I can't remember what menu it's under but there is a setting to use xv color controls. once that box is checked the F key will work.

This also won't work if you've configured twinview in your X configuration...

ahh yes I guess I should have prefaced that with you have to have xv working in order to use xv color controls.
