Should we add a For Sale section to the KnoppMyth forums? I think it's a good idea.

An interesting idea, however, the potential for abuse is huge...

and if your like me if you have any working parts you stick them in something and use them. Of course I guess everyone isn't as poor as I am.

I must be too! All my parts are in use or in my junk bin waiting for the day they come come back to life.

Why not just use Ebay? You'll find a lot wider selection than you could find here (IMHO).

Of course, you could always take orders for building MythTv boxes :)

So those of us who just can't get the damn thing working can just come here and buy one that works. Then our friends will think we worked it out and be green with envy.

Of course, then they'll all ask our help getting theirs running, and we'll all be revealed for the useless newbs we really are.. Hmm. So maybe that's not a good idea after all

Yeah, but who is willing to pay my assembly rates? Much less pay for the price of hardware and then have it shipped. You are probably talking of a minimum of $600 for a small system.

Save on assembly costs. Build a low cost system using the description in the Tier 1 systems. Install the KnoppMyth system to the HD, but don't reboot with that drive. Get an identical drive, and mount both as slaves on different channels in a Linux system. dd the drive you burned to the identical drive, and put that in the system you are building as your template. Make sure that the system boots of the new image, and then re-image the drive to set it back to pristine configuration.

You can now perform this process time and time again. You may want to burn three different drive sizes to offer storage flexability, 120G, 200G, 350G, and price systems based upon the drive size selected.

Unless you start dealing in fairly large volumes, you won't be seeing much in the way of discounts on parts however.
