Im looking to playback audio/video files from a simple, small, quiet computer. The audio/video files would be stored remotely on the network. Can Knoppymyth be used in this way (to run off a cd with NO hard drive installed, with network playback support)? |

It is KnoppMyth. not Knoppymyth. Running the CD as a frontend is dependant on having a working MythTV backend. You cannot use MythMusic/Video w/o a backend (period). That said, if you have a working backend, you can NFS mount and play the files from the backend server. |

And to make it quite clear, your simple, small, quiet computer can be the frontend and the backend. Provided the computer on the network that stores the files can share them via NFS, the "backend" component running on the simple, small, quiet computer will allow the "frontend" runnning on the same computer to play them. Edit: oops i didnt see the last line of your post. If you intend running off the cd, the simple,small,quiet computer will only function as the frontend and you will require a MythTV backend somewhere on the network. |
