I recently upgraded to the new version of mplayer, and now my mythfrontend crashes when trying to launch mplayer. I am using R4 with 0.12, does the new version of mplayer require 0.13? Anyone have any ideas?

Not at all... I too upgraded mplayer from source using 0.12 with no problems. Also upgraded to 0.13 with no problems. Maybe others out there can help. Sorry.

MPlayer is in no way dependent on MythTV or any of its modules.

Does anyone know what's causing this:

FATAL[ogle_mpeg_ps]: dvdreadblocks failed

and... this is from mplayer:

Cannot open the IFO file for DVD Title 1

and Xine gives me this:

Error reading NAV packet

All I'm trying to do is view a dvd. It will view some burned dvd's I have made. I installed libdvdcss and it's using it. The burner is a Creative dxr2 (old).

Also, when trying to play recordings from mythtv 0.12 it crashes immediately. I recently updated mplayer from apt, and I can view them using mplayer from the command line. Just not inside mythtv. Any ideas??

Perhaps the disk(s) is/are damaged? Check the path for MPlayer in MythDVD/Video setting make sure you are using the one you apt-got...

MythTV is configured to get mplayer from /usr/local/bin but apt-get install mplayer put it in /usr/bin

Change to place.

The old mplayer have problems with libs after upgrade of various things (I have updated a lot of things). The new one has problems with the -vo xv switch also...

Anyway the new mplayer is very slow on Hauppauge 350 tv-out (didn't test the old one for that), is there any patches to get quicker mpeg playback on tv-out (on a EPIA C3-2 processor)?

I believe there is a patch for MPlayer that allows it to use the 350. Check the ivtv archives.
