Post subject:  KnoppMyth debs.. an idea for consideration

I love KnoppMyth! I installed .13 from the debs and it works great. However, it started me to think and that can be dangerous... :-)

Since the .13 debs work so great to upgrade a KnoppMyth R4, would it be feasible and practical to base future KnoppMyth releases on "stock" Knoppix installs?

In other words, KnoppMyth would become a 2 CD installation.
CD #1 would be the latest Knoppix -- the user does a default install
CD #2 would be a collection of debs and scripts to convert to KnoppMyth

I think the main benefit is that the KnoppMyth developers could focus on MythTV and related debs/scripts while the rest of the linux distribution would be supported by Knoppix. I *think* this would reduce a lot of the distribution overhead.

Whatever you do -- thanks! This is just a idea and is not a criticism!

well I think the problem with that is that the developers are trying to reduce the machine overhead, as in not having 2Gb of stuff installed. So that the box can concentrate its processing power on STB features.
