Post subject:  view Axis 2100 Network Camera feed via MythTV? ideas please!

folks,

i have an Axis 2100 "LAN camera" -- it is basically a network-enabled video camera with a built in Linux-based web server...
http://www.axis.com/products/cam_2100/index.htm
http://www.axis.com/products/video/camera/qa.htm
http://www.axis.com/techsup/cam_servers ... /index.htm

you connect it to your LAN, assign it an IP, surf to the camera using your web browser, and --BAM-- instant video feed.

as i understand it, the Axis 2100 "video" seen via the browser is just a succession of refreshed (motion) JPEGs at up to 10fps.

ok, now i'm thinking, what if i could get my Axis camera feed as a selectable input or some-such on my MythTV box. then, i could watch the baby or check who is at the front door etc from my TV. which is exactly what my wife saw on some home improvement show and said to me "how come your myth box can't do that?". so i'm in need of geek support here guys/gals!!!

any ideas on how i might accomplish this?

i'm thinking that using a variation of
http://www.axis.com/techsup/cam_servers ... o_unix.htm
i can get apache on my mythtv box to provide the "server" end of things. but it'not clear to me how from within mythtv i could "play" the feed. or, whether or not i would have to do realtime motion JPEG to MPEG transcoding to get me into mythtv land.

as you can see i'm hunting for a clever way to do this, so thanks for any input.

jim

The Axis not being a video4linux device, I don't think there is a way to do what you want... You can however user Motion and MythVideo to view the stream.
