Post subject: | HDTV and SDTV Backend - R5D1 + .20, Celeron 2Ghz, 512Mb |
Type of system: Backend Noise level: With 4 fans, 4 HDDs in it, it's LOUD However, it's in a rack in the basement... CASE: Generic 19" Rackmount PSU: Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W MOTHERBOARD: MSI MS-6580 ver 5 (It's a backend!) CPU: 2.0 Ghz Celeron (It's a backend!) RAM: 512Mb DDR266 CPU HEATSINK: Stock Intel NORTHBRIDGE HEATSINK: None CD/DVD-RW: Generic CD-ROM drive HDD: 1 - WD200EB (20Gb - OS), 2 - ST3250823AS (1 mounted as /myth, other in LVM), 1 - ST3400832AS (in LVM with other ST3250823AS) GRAPHICS CARD: GeForce MX2 something or other... (Stop laughing, it's a backend!) SOUNDCARD: Onboard something or other... TUNER CARD: PVR-350, PVR-150 1045, Fusion HDTV5 RT Lite REMOTE CONTROL: None I say "I hope" on the HDTV because I know the Fusion card works, I just haven't configured a frontend that can play HDTV reliably. Went to 512Mb RAM from 256Mb because I found it was swapping. Have an additional system in the rack that serves the media (videos, music, pictures) via NFS, and I rsync those files to this backend (on the LVM). Loaded up Knoppmyth, added .20, about 1 hour configuration time for the settings to be "just right" (c'mon, are they ever "just right"?), and viola! The ladies in the house love it! Will post the frontend(s) as they come online... All in all I would have to say this Myth project has been "entertaining" I would like to thank Cecil and Dale for their continuing efforts on Knoppmyth, as well as a big thanks to all the helpful people on this board - Couldn't have done this without all of you! |
