# Video type: Both - HD for Video content/SD tuners (for now)
# Type of system: combined front- and back-end
# Noise level: It's a little loud, but I have not determined if I need all the fan power that I currently have blowing through it.

Prices are from NewEgg.

MB MSI K9NBPM2-FID NVS 210S AM2 - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$79.99)
CASE LINKWORLD|6280-01 BK/SIL RT - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$34.99)
CPU AMD|A64 X2 4000+ 2.1G AM2 65N R - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$65.99)
MEM 512M|PATRT DII800 PSD251280081 - Retail (Qty=1, Price=$22.99)

I'm including the prices I paid for everything since I really spent quite some time finding good prices on everything I needed. I said I wanted to spend no more than $200 on the project. Keep in mind I already had Tuners and Disks from my prior KM machine.

I included the case, since for a $35 case, this thing is sweet, and really fits in nicely with the "media center" feel - without the "media center" price tag.
----

Motherboad:
MSI K9NBPM2-FID NVS 210S AM2

Has Nvidia Nforce Chipset, DVI output, 7.1 Audio, SPDIF in/out, Firewire, Network, Sata, IDE - Everything you need right on board, and PCI express if you need that. I find that the built in VIdeo works perfectly, even for HD via the DVI port (with a DVI to HDMI cable)

CPU: CPU AMD|A64 X2 4000+ 2.1G AM2 65N R

I chose this CPU since it's the Brisbane - which uses less power and creates less heat. Fantastic. Even at "medium" setting, it finishes a one hour TV show's commercial detect job in 4 minutes.

Tuners: 2x PVR-350
---------

I did a fresh install onto a 160GB IDE disk. Used the "automatic" option. Everything worked out of the box on the first try.

I did have to manually install the Nvidia drivers to perfect HDTV - but it worked fine without them - just BETTER with them, so I still consider this a tier 1.

A few minor edits to RRD tool, as I've described elsewhere on the site and Removing the saa driver to better the remote control performance - but this is very minor, and a fully functional machine was created right out of the box.

Nice work Gentlemen.
