UK readers might be interested to know that the motherboard and CPU came as a bundle from Maplin for £50, which didn't seem too bad. Total cost was less than £200, but I already had a DVD-ROM and case.

To tune in Freeview on the HVR1100 I had to supply the frequency of one of the transports. After that the other transports were located, but needed to be scanned individually - I couldn't just do a full scan.

One word of warning - I started off with monitor and TV cloned output. Bad mistake - TV out was very jagged for fast horizontal pans. Disabling the CRT for X sorted this out.

I'd like to tailor the remote at some point, but the main buttons work just fine. I've got an IR keyboard so this isn't a priority.
