After 3 different distros and a handfull of bad pieces of hardware, I finally got this puppy running. Getting free parts from my job as a PC repair tech can definitely have its drawbacks. Most of the time the extras I have are outdated pieces that customers don't want but sometimes you get a real gem, and then again sometimes you get a lump of coal. Will be posting my trials and tribulations on my website later. After the 3rd attempt to install KnoppMyth it just worked. </shrug> :? Anyways here's the final config:

Shuttle AK35GT2 Via Motherboard
AMD Athlon 1500+
768MB PC2700 DDR RAM
MSI GeForce 4 mx 440
SBLive! Platinum
WinTV Go, using bt878 chip
SMC 1255 10/100 NIC
80GB Hard Drive
Mitsumi Floppy with 7 in one Media Reader.
Lite-on 52x CDROM
Creative Labc PC-DVD 5X

I'm going to sleep now. I've been up for nearly 2.5 days, (well actually I got about 3 hours sleep last night but we won't count that)

Do you mean hangs during install? This is a longshot, but are you overclocking? When I built my Athlon XP system I set the FSB to 200 vs 133, and it seemed to run fine, even under memtest86, but the os install (FC3 at the time) would crash partway through every time. Finally set FSB back to 133 and everything was happy.

Even if not it may be worth running memtest86 to try do identify cpu and/or memory problems.
