abrendel,

Once again, I have the same CPU usage issues as you with my Dragon. Please see my own solution to my problems on this post.

This makes me sad. I've been waiting and wishing for R5.5 for so long. I dont want to go back! But I hear you on the WAF thing. As we were watching Miss Universe last night (yes, I watched it...thank you High Def on a 55" TV!) and the CPU was struggling to play it back even with xvmc, the wife kept giving me her usual line of, "Don't you think it would be just easier to go back to Dish?". Argh!

I just put the av710 card back in. Ran the tweaker for audio and it works fine. I'm going with that for now.

I also had the AV710 working well except for consistent mp3 playback in mythmusic. Does your current setup have glitch-free audio in mythmusic?

Please update this thread if/when you get your system running without problems. I am particularly interested in how you will solve the cpu usage during HD playback, and of course the sound issues.

I took out the AV710 card as recommended...and I get no sound out the onboard.

To be clear, you also need to re-enable the onboard sound in the BIOS or Linux won't even see the onboard audio hardware. That said, people still seem to be having problems getting Dragon 1.1's onboard audio working.

When you were testing the release with the 1.1 Dragon, how was the CPU performance? Any tweaks you can recommend? I've been fiddling with different decoders and deinterlacing methods, but no matter what I use, I'm seeing 90% CPU on any HD recordings. And a couple of recordings peg the CPU and/or crash the frontend when I start them

Any tweaks I came across were put into Tweaker. Run these commands as root, and note which one says "recommended" (or if none say "recommended", note all the ones that say "optional"):
Code:
twk_cpu.pl --poll low

Code:
twk_cpu.pl --poll medium

Code:
twk_cpu.pl --poll high

If, say, 'medium' is 'recommended' then run this as root:
Code:
twk_cpu.pl --implement medium

Do the same thing with twk_graphics.pl

When done, exit mythfrontend and re-launch it to benefit from the changes.

MythMusic glitching was the reason I had to un-recommend the AV-710 for R5.5 :(

I'll give these a try tonight. Thanks!
