OK **ALMOST** everything worked on install. It installed and I could watch TV right away which suprised me because this is a fairly agressive system for Knoppmyth from what I have read.

I am a noob for sure but I did manage to get tv out working. I haven't yet recorded anything because I need to get the remote working and then tackle manipulating my directtv box with the IRblaster.

I can't get the PVR-150 remote to work for anything. I have tried many of the howto's several times without success. I think this is a different remote than all of the posts (SMK eHome?).

Oh yeah...this dual boots also......(WIN XP MCE 2005)....oddly enough the TV won't even work on the windoze install...lol.

I took a simple approach to dual install. I installed one of thte SATA drives...then installed XP on it. I then put in the IDE drive (wanted to use auto installl because I am a puss and am new to Linux). Installed Knoppmyth to the IDE drive. The only catch was I had to use chdisk (i think thats what it is called) to fix the MBR on the IDE drive for some odd reason...damn thing wouldn't boot after the initial install.

Once I got Knoppmyth to reboot and setup I then nano'd my lilo.conf:

other=/dev/sda1
label="Windows XP MCE"
map-drive=0x80
to=0x81
# restricted
alias=2

did the /sbin/lilo -v

and BAM.....dual boot...pretty simple (probably got lucky).

I got the remote working...

Phillips ehome smk or whatever

I used some excellent howto info from http://blatter.com/mceusb

I had tried it once...failed...then tried again to the letter (I was confused as to what he meant by lirc source directory -- it is jsut the directory that you untarred the lirc update to).

Anyway..I also used his sample .lircrc and it has a bit to be desired so when I get a little more time I will try to figure that out also (incidentally it is better than the standard PVR-150 lircrc because this remote is a bit different than the standard pvr-150)

Now I am going to get the blaster functioning.

Anyway...thanks to all for this forum..I lurk and find tidbits I can use.

Tier 1 isn't a blob for you to post and you get things working.
