Installed last night, easy as pie! I based this system on the Dragon, upgraded some parts, downgraded others, and used some parts that I already had from my previous system. It's ready for the upgrade to HDTV, but I've got to wait until I move somewhere with reception good enough to bother. I really do like the case, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great looking HTPC case. Don't skimp on the silent power supply! Get a quiet one with a 120mm fan. Looks good. Are you using the S/PDIF Optical or Coaxial audio output? Last I heard nforce 4 alsa drivers were not prime time. |

I'm just using the standard line-out. I don't have a receiver (yet) that will take digital audio, so I'll be patient until the nForce4 driver set supports digital audio out. |

Silverstone LC10 Take a look at your mobo and cpu temp, and you may find that you can remove the front case fan as well. I did, and I'm still at 40c for the CPU. And I throttled the CPU can way down. I don't have the silent PS, wish I'd sprung for that, but it's a "pretty quiet" Silverstone PS. If you've removed the 80mm fans in the rear, consider blocking off the grill with a sheet of aluminum or something. I'm thinking that the airflow will be disrupted if air is allowed to be drawn INTO the case via the rear grill, which was designed to exhaust OUT. By blocking the grill, the original airflow is restored. |

So, which PSU did you spring for? Am I missing something from your post? |

I got a ThermalTake W0062RU 420W Power Supply. It's about 19DB, and the whole system is pretty quiet. (not silent, but not audible over the TV audio.) |

Post subject: | ATI Wonder Remote |
You mentioned using the kernel driver instead of Lirc. Did the Knopmyth install offer the option, or was a kernel recompile needed? Also are you using the romote wonder or remote wonder II? Thanks |

KnoppMyth install will ask if you want to remove the kernel driver for ATI Remote Wonder and install Lirc. If you choose "no," the kernel driver will remain. In earlier releases of KnoppMyth, I had no success with Lirc for the Remote Wonder. At this point, I imagine that Lirc works, but I have customized my .xmodmap the way I like it and don't see any point having to relearn my remote. I also like the mouse feature present in the kernel driver which isn't available with Lirc. I am using the standard Remote Wonder. |

Post subject: | .xmodmap |
Would you mind posting your .xmodmap file? I am in the process of piecing a system together based on your spec above and am trying to do as much research as possible before all of the parts come together. Thanks. |

I have two .xmodmap files... one is for normal use, and the other kicks in to make the volume controls work properly when playing video files in Mplayer. Below are the instructions for setting up the remote using .xmodmap and the ATI remote kernel driver. 1. Standard modmap /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprc Code: ! STOP keycode 9 = Escape ! PLAY keycode 46 = p ! OK keycode 36 = Return ! PAUSE keycode 110 = p ! MUTE keycode 160 = bar ! PLAYRECORDINGS keycode 159 = F8 ! POWER keycode 222 = Escape ! VIDEOLIST keycode 151 = F7 ! VOLUMEUP keycode 176 = bracketright ! VOLUMEDOWN keycode 174 = bracketleft ! MENU keycode 158 = M ! LOADCOMMSKIP keycode 25 = Z ! CLEARMAP keycode 52 = Q 2. Modmap to fix volume mapping in mplayer /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprcvid Code: ! VOLUMEUP keycode 176 = 0 ! VOLUMEDOWN keycode 174 = 9 3. Get xmodmap to load at startup Code: nano /usr/local/bin/KnoppMyth-run there is a line that says Code: CMD2='exec mythfrontend' replace it with Code: CMD2='exec xmodmap /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprc | exec mythfrontend' 4. Remotescript - used to switch .xmodmap files when calling mplayer /usr/local/bin/remotescript Code: xmodmap /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprcvid mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv "$1" xmodmap /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprc 5. Once everything is created, run the following commands to set proper permissions: Code: chmod 755 /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprc chmod 755 /home/mythtv/.xmodmaprcvid chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/remotescript 6. In Video Settings | Player Settings, set the default player to Code: remotescript
This will call the code to change the .xmodmap configuration before and after playing a video file so the volume control works correctly. |

Thanks for the code help. Is there documentation I can look at so I don't have to continually bug the kind folks on here? Thanks again. |

Most of my previous post was put together from a collection of postings on this forum. I use Google site search (i.e. site:mysettopbox.tv your search here) to find relevant articles, since the forum search isn't very good. If you search the forum and the wiki (knoppmythwiki.org) and don't find what you're looking for, people on this forum are pretty helpful. |
