The system worked out of the box without the wireless card until the first reboot. Then the TV-out failed on the PVR-350 as it is posted here many times. With the help of the forum I was able to fix that.
My Dlink DWL 520 wireless card was recognized by the system and some driver was loaded but this driver didn't work. I hacked a script that unloads the driver at start-up and loads ndiswrapper instead.
Due to issues ivtv not getting enough memory and causing crashes I upgraded ivtv. That helped with the frequent crashes but I still see in the logs that the issue is there. I'm starting to think that this is caused by DMA problems of the VIA motherboard or maybe the old cable. The box still hangs up every now and then usually when it gets very busy.
I believe that before I upgraded ivtv the processor load for watching shows was only around 4-5%. Now it is about 40-50%. That is not a problem just something I have noticed. Recording takes only 3-4% processor load.
Going through the menus is a little slow at times.
My wife is very happy with the system and that is the main thing
