I got most things working but the TV-OUT with some 20 hours of
reading docs, mailing lists etc.

sound: alsa installation was ok, but I had to do some driver tweaking:
Code:
test_ioctl -y mute=0
test_ioctl -v input=2, output=1
test_ioctl -y volume=60000

did the job.
Still have to figure out, how to do this on module startup without
a post-install in /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv.

Some postings told that you need a Y-cable.
I did not. Just the BNC cable connected to the PVR 350 and a
working soundcard. No loopback from TV-card to sound-card.
And the picture and the sound seem to be in sync.

ivtv: had to get and rebuild the latest version of the driver to get pal working
This guide from Thorsten Schenkel did help me a lot

Use something like mplayer /dev/video0 to test your ivtv config

ir-remote: had to configure .lircrc
seems as if knoppmyth does not have native lirc support, or I did not get it to work
lirc works fine now with irxevent and irexec.
Use irw to test your ir-remote.

tv-out decoder via /dev/video16
I can watch TV with a
Code:
dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16 bs=64k

but I did not get mythtv to show the frontend on my tv.
Seems as if there has to be some XFree Config to be done.

epg in germany
tvmoviefetch works fine, but does not provide channel information.
I had to fill the table channel by hand with mysql.
I did a
Code:
mplayer /dev/video0 &
ptuni-ui.pl

to get the channel. The column freqid needs something like "E4", "SE17" etc.
I did not need further frequencies.
I found a table from NRW and changed it for the channels in Hamburg.

Cheers

this is not alsa these are ivtv commands, and it seems that there are several people having problems with this. I think they have found the problem and are looking into a fix for the next version, but don't quote me on that. I am not one of the developers.

this makes sense the pvr250/350 picks the sound up from the signal and embeds it into the mpeg2 file so you do not need the cable to the sound card on either a pvr250 or a 350.

knoppmyth does have native lirc support if you install the package with lirc support. I think the script is install-i686-l but at any rate it is in the install docs. I think maybe this part should be like bolded 24point font since lots of people seem to be missing it.

Thanks Xsecrets for your detailed analysis.
I will look into the lirc native support as I will set up a new machine before Xmas.
