Post subject: | How Do I Install a Module at Bootup for V-Stream DVB-T Usb? |
Hi All, 1st time Linux newbie here I'm afraid!! ( Hardware: Everything standard except Capture: V-stream (K-World) DVB-T USb Box Video: 9800se radeon aiw Other: Aiw Remote Software KnoppMyth R5A12 Universal DVB-T drivers from LinuxTV.org (I know the radeons have issues all of their own so I am dealing with one issue at a time - The DVB-T USB box) No Problems Installing Knoppmyth Thanks to the wealth of Info through the various threads here, I got the DVB-T USB to connect and scan by basically following the DVB-T threads on these forums. However there does not appear to be (correct me if I'm wrong and please show me how ) kernel support for my card. The Lsmod command only shows that the other USB stuff (aiw remote, etc) has loaded on bootup. I followed the instructions for adding a module to the 2.4 kernel (I know the the kernel for R5A12 is 2.6.9-chw) and eventually got the drivers to load. I then reran mythtv-setup which found my USB Box , Succesfully scanned the UK freeview channels , and was then able to record Live TV. However on subsequent bootups the module is not loaded and I have to load it manually and then rescan all channels. So 2 questions 1) How do I add a module to bootup? (I tried to "make install" after loading the drivers into the kernel but it gave me an error about using the "insmod" command (which is what I used anyway)). 2) Does anybody know anything about initialisation problems with DVB-t USB boxs? Many thanks Xsecret for a quick reply. I've managed to edit the /etc/modules file. Unfortunately I didn't (and still don't) know what to add... (told you I was a newbie ). I "lsmod"ed before and after the driver module was inserted. The differences were in the usb_core. They were (added) cinergyT2 b2c2_flexcop_usb dvb_dibsub ttusb_dec dvb_ttusb_budget I added these into /etc/modules and rebooted. The DVB-T box did not power Up. Only some of the modules had inserted themselves into the usb_core sections others had created their own sections. I then inserted the drivers again manually with "/dvb-kernel/build-2.6/insmod.sh load". The DVB-T box powered on, however checking with "lsmod" showed that the drivers were in fact installed twice, once in their correct place (usb_core) and also in (dvb_core). Any thoughts? Many thanks again. Tiny |
