CPU: AMD 1333
Video ATI Radeon VE (7000) 32MB AGP x4
512 MB
80 MB HD
Hauppauge PVR-150
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

For video out I am using one of those VGA->SVideo converters (Hardware), not the ATI. I have Ubuntu installed on another hard drive.

The setup was fairly easy. the hauppauge worked out of the box - including the remote.

1) Install selected to use SVGA instead of the radeon driver in the XF86Config. Once I change this most of the choppiness went away.

2) Next I selected to use "BOB" deinterlacing - much better

3) Channel names didn't come down (Rogers Cable Canada)

4) Much better - but still occassionally a bit choppy.

Is the system just maxing out? When I look at top
CPU Mem
76.0 9.8 mythfrontend
16.0 8.7 XFree86
8.0 7.2 mythcommflag

I checked DMA is being used.

Excellent software!!

I had a look at the XFree86.0.log at it still seems to be using the VESA driver.

When I run xine on a xvid movie it is choppy as well, whereas it isn't when I run ubuntu 5.10 which is installed on another drive ( I am setting up dual boot).

Looks like I may have to upgrade Xserver to X.org version and then I could simply use my video config from ubuntu.

I am also tempted to simply pickup a Gforce 5200 but the AGP is only x4 - not sure if 100% compatible...

Is this a Tier 2 recommendation of a call for help? One wouldn't post a recommendation here unless things were working. Shall I delete this thread?
