I have several mkv files that display subtitles when I play them with mplayer in MythTV. I can turn off the subtitles with Media Player Classic in Windows, but reading through the mplayer documentation, I don't see a command line switch/parameter to turn them off or hide them in mplayer in MythTV.

Any advice on how to turn off/hide subtitles in mplayer would be greatly appreciated.

My current video player setting is:
mplayer -zoom -quiet -fs -ao alsa:device=iec958 -afm hwacs %s

Try "v". For more:
Code:
man mplayer

Thanks tjc.

'v' works good with the keyboard, it just would be nice to configure mplayer so it never displays subtitles by default (either by adding something to the config file or to the command line).

I couldn't find anything in man mplayer that would set this. I tried -noautosubs to no avail.

It's probably in there somewhere, but there are so many flags, I'm probably just overlooking it.
