Hi

Please can someone have a look at their default ROOT crontab?

I meant to do

Code:
crontab -e

but instead I did

Code:
crontab -r

by mistake (well they are next to each other on the keyboard!)

I know there was one line, that ran a perl (.pl) script beginning with the letter 'c', - check_something? change_something?

Greatful for your help!

On my system, the root user crontab was initially empty. All standard entries (cron.daily, cron.hourly, rrd, etc.) were in the system cron file (/etc/crontab). Crontab -e or -r would affect entries in the user specific crontab in /var/spool/.

Admittedly, I restored my custom root crontab over my upgrade to 5.5, so I could have over-written something, but I'm pretty sure all the default cron jobs are still in the system cronfile.

Okay, thanks. I don't understand what I saw then, probably nothing to do with Knoppmyth!

Cheers.
