My system locked up during watching and recording a show recently. I hit system reset and know after the splash screen goes to the right I end up at the mythtv login page. I can get to mythwelcome and into myth if I login as mythtv. Once I am into myth I can not access shows but I can access videos. I try to turn on the backend and I get a message that is already running. Any suggestions on what is wrong or which log to look into.

Thanks

rich

I ran fsck. It now logs in. Once I am in mythtv it seems that the frontend won't login to the backend. The backend is running. Also on the messages you get in start up it says mounting local file systems failed. Now all the drives seemed to be mounted correctly when I get through the start up. Any suggestions?

The startup message about the failing local filesystem mount usually is benign.

Open a console (<alt><x> in KnoppMyth) and run mythfrontend from the console. See if any messages there provide a clue.

The backend logs are in /var/log/mythtv - the current log is /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log.

Take a look at the messages that both of those provide, and if you need any help deciphering any odd messages, let us know.

I found the error. It was a databse error. I fixed it by using myisamchk and mysqlcheck -r -umythtv -pmythtv mythconverg . That got me working again. Last i checked I had one error in the database. inuseprogram.myi (something like that) that said it could net be repaired due to index not being found or something like that. Everything else seems to work. I have not checked the inuseprgram again since everything booted up correctly. Thanks for the suggestions.
