I've had this problem for the over a year since I put together my KnoppMyth PVR - a single channel, #23 (I think), has horrible visual static. Here's the high points of my hookup: I have 3 Hauppage-350s, and the signal into all of them is run through a 5-way splitter (one input to four outputs), three of the outputs going into the capture cards and one into the cable input of the TV. The audio on the channel seems fine, and the same channel viewed directly through the TV is fine. The channel looks like crap regardless if it's being viewed as live TV through the PVR or once it's recorded. This channel is primarily watched by my wife, so there's a huge PR win to be gained by fixing this...

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Or questions?

Thanks!

This sounds real familiar.

Are you sure that it records like that on all of your 350s?

Also, in mythtv-setup, what do you have chosen for your "channel frequency table"... there are multiple cable options, maybe one will work better than the other.

There is a way to "fine-tune" a channel via MythWeb. This link is from 2003 but it might still be applicable.

Here's a newer one.

I'm fairly sure it's like this on all the 350s, but I'll try to record something on the second and third to double-check. I'll also look into your other suggestions, though I think I tried fine-tuning the channel once before. I should be able to update the thread this evening.

Thanks!
