I'd like watching LiveTV to not record anything it's watching OTHER than the look-back buffer.

(This was how TiVo works. You have to explicitly *record* something for it to be saved. Otherwise there's a liveTV 30minute buffer at all times that's never saved)

Anyone know where I can set this?

Thanks,

-Ben

Your live TV buffer is saved to disc and is automatically overwritten. You can specify the amount of data you store on the hdd somewhere in the GUI (I forgot where). I doubt tvio has enough RAM to buffer 30 min of live TV, even 480x480 @ 3kbps.

EDIT: google is your friend.

I know about the LiveTV buffer, but it was also saving it as programs in the programs list. Making me nuts.

I think I fixed it.. (not sure how) so I think I'm good for now.

Thanks!

If you read the mythtv wiki hit I posted, this is normal behavior:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Ring_Buffer wrote:
Myth versions 0.19 and beyond have changed the way they handle LiveTV. All recordings are now treated the same way. LiveTV recordings are kept in a separate recording group called LiveTV. They will be expired before any other recordings. They can also be expired automatically after a user configurable number of days. The change allows users to watch a LiveTV recording and then keep it by changing the group from Live TV to another group. This prevents Myth from expiring the program on the LiveTV schedule.

I don't think so given what I posted above, but do keep this thread updated if you did.

For R6:

Service Menu > Mythtv Setup > TV Settings > General > Page 2 (LiveTV Max Age)

Also:

Service Menu > Mythtv Setup > TV Settings > Playback > Page 5 (Default Group Filter (set to All Programs to make LiveTV recordings disappear) and tick Save Group Filter When Changed)

Right.. After digging around, I don't see them listed, but they are still floating around on the drive waiting to expire.

Thanks all..

Fellas, I've been trying to get the "LiveTV" group in the watch recordings screen to go away, but it keeps coming back.

I have the default group filter set to "All Program" and have the checkmark on "save group filter when changed" as suggested earlier. The LiveTV group still showed up.

So, when I go into the watch recordings screen, I hit "m" to bring up the menu. From there I select "Change Group View" and I the UNCHECK "Show LiveTV". Then, I hit save.

The LiveTV group disappears until I open the watch recordings screen again.

I don't have this issue on another distro I had been using. Perhaps I jacked something up when getting everything setup.

Oh, I have also tried various themes. All have the same result. I even downloaded blue-abstract from the mythtv wiki and it had the same result too.

Any words of advice?
