I'm planning on adding a diskless FE to my standalone system. I found the build_diskless.sh script in MythVantage's bin folder. Could anyone give some pointers and possible gotcha's before I run it?

I can't seem to find anything on it on the forum or wiki. There is also no author credits in the script itself. If it's the same script as the config_diskless_frontend.bash just say so and I'll use those threads dealing with that as my instructions.

The wiki entry http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=DisklessFrontend seems a bit outdated, and http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=view/R5.5%2FR6.x+Differences+Table+and+Equivalent+Commands refers to knoppmyth_diskless_frontend.bash.

Thanks all.

I think the build_diskless.sh script is something to do with changing the way diskless frontends work so that rather than copying the backend install and using that as the frontend nfs root, it actually installs to an NFSroot from the CD image. That is a better way to do it (because if the legacy way of doing things doesnt work if the FE and BE are sufficiently different - although I have never had a problem with a variety of machines), but I dont think development on that method is complete (or even progressing).

You should:
pacman -S diskless-legacy
and then run:
/usr/local/bin/config_diskless_frontend.bash

Worked fist time, no serious issues.

Just had to comment out some mounts in fstab and update Nvidia drivers.

Thanks a mill Greg and all involved in the script.

One thing though. My root patition is now totaly full, and I intend to add additional FE's. What are my options?
