Host Address on 6.03 machine appears fine to me
Local backend ip address 127.0.0.1 Port 6544
Master backend ip address 127.0.0.1 Port 6544

On checking my 5.5 master Back end I did find an old entry in my /etc/host file.
192.168.1.41 BE1
That I just now commented out.

rebooted everything and ran /usr/LH/bin/mythwelcome-config.py
as mythtv user and it worked this time.

Backend
Wakup time format: yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm:ss
Command to set time: /usr/bin/mythshutdown --setwakup $time
Server halt command: /usr/bin/mythshutdown --shutdown
Pre shutdown check-command: /usr/bin/mythshutdown --check

front end
Command to set wakeup Time: sudo sh -c "/usr/LH/bin?mythwelcome-set-alarm.sh $time"
Wakeup time format: time_t
nvram-wakeup Restart Command: (blank)
Command to reboot: sudo /sbin/reboot
Command to shutdown: sudo /sbin/poweroff
Command to run Xterm: xterm
Command to run to start frontend: /usr/LH/bin/mythfrontend-start

/home/mythtv/.fluxbox/apps doesn't appear to have anything to do with starting MythWelcome any more because it remains unchanged but it dos work correctly.

#Uncomment below if you are using firewire
#[startup] {/usr/bin/plugctl -n 0 "oPCR[0].n_p2pconnections=1"}
[startup] {feh --bg-scale ~/.fluxbox/wallpaper.png}
[startup] {/usr/LH/bin/LinHES-run}

Things to Note:

My 5.5 backend may have been running (starts on mythwelcome) but not when I looked at it.

The first time I run /usr/LH/bin/mythwelcome-config.py as root and the second time (when it worked) it was a mythtv user

On every boot it displays "Can Not connect to backend" but then it dos and works Ok. I do believe i have a ghost in the system. This is not the first time that this has happened on a stand alone test machine. I learned to isolate the master backend from the network whenever I ran a installed on a test machine but forgot this time.

Thanks Britney for your help

In LinHES if MythWelcome is enabled it is run from the LinHES-run script.

I see this on occasion too but it is just that the backend isn't yet ready for connections when MythWelcome or Mythfrontend first try to connect. In mythtv-setup there are some settings that control how many times and how often it tries to reconnect to the backend.
