I recently upgraded to R6.04 and have notice a problem with playback after transcoding.

When I try to transcode SD programs it works fine as usual. Playback is good.

However,when I transcode HD programs the sound plays back at 1/3 speed.
The file sound seems corrupted.

I checked google and here is what I found

Anyone else encountered this? Most stuff is now HD.

Well I just transcoded a test recording without any trouble. Is this happening consistently? Any particular HD resolution? 720P? 1080i?

To be a little more clear

I recorded the whole "NCAA BB Tournament" 1080i and it recorded fine and played fine. But when I transcoded the sound was roached like 1/3.
Same thing happened with the Academy Awards 720p. Also NBA stuff has the same issue. However, "THIS OLD HOUSE" HD always transcodes just fine.

I have Antenna OTA. My sound is usually two channels. I have it hooked up analog to a five speaker setup.

Now that I think about this all the other programs are broadcast with Dolby 5 channel sound except this "THIS OLD HOUSE". That is when the problem happens when it converts 5 to 2 then it gets roached and it's consistent.

I think they are doing something to OTA broadcasts to break recording. It's either that or they are time compressing the show to add more commercials. You will notice that you don't have any problems with shows that aren't "prime time" Frasier Re-runs, This Old House, Sesame street ETC. I was having a hard time playing back these redcordings until I upgraded my hardware. There also seems to be a problem with Mythtranscode. I just got ffmpeg up and running to transcode some files for my zune http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... pod+ffmpeg ffmpeg seems to handle the files perfectly fine. I"m trying to figure out how to replace mythtranscoed with ffmpeg for all of my transcodes.
The only common thing I've noticed with the slow audio problem is that all of the users are using OTA. Sorry I don't have better news
