Decided to upgrade from 7.4 to 8.0 over Christmas break and I have to say it was the best upgrade so far. I just saw that 8.1 was out and did pacman -Syu but got the following. Code: error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) runit-scripts: /etc/sv/mythzmserver/log/supervise/lock exists in filesystem runit-scripts: /etc/sv/mythzmserver/log/supervise/pid exists in filesystem runit-scripts: /etc/sv/mythzmserver/log/supervise/stat exists in filesystem runit-scripts: /etc/sv/mythzmserver/log/supervise/status exists in filesystem Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded. Can I just delete(rm) these and do a pacman -Syu ?

Thats strange, as those files are not part of any pkg. Assuming zoneminder is active, this procedure should allow the upgrade to continue.
-sv stop mythzmserver -remove_service.sh mythzmserver -update with pacman - add_service.sh mythzmserver

Ok thanks jams..I removed the service but I still had to delete the files. Then it upgraded, with a couple permission warnings(differences in directory and files). It came back up re-added mythzmservice. Everything seems normal.. .27 mythtv. Thanks again for your help.
One other thing..should an entry for mythzonminder be in the menu? or do I have to add it manually?

The menu item for mythzoneminder should happen automatically. Since it's a plugin, mythfrontend will not display the menu item until the plugin is loaded successfully. If it was just installed then mythfrontend may need to be restarted.
the menu item will be called "zoneminder" under information center.

Thanks Jams.. I'll restart the frontend later..It should be it since mythzmserver was started after the frontend

mythzmserver is actually a different service then the zoneminder plugin.
the zoneminder plugin uses mythzmserver, but it doesn't display anything in the menu.
Check that mythzoneminder is installed and matches the version of mythtv installed, which it should me if the service mythzmserver was enabled.

Thanks Jams before i read your most recent post I found that mythzoneminder wasn't installed(looked at logs and seen sudo:mythzmserver command not found). Installed it and it's now running. I thought it was installed when i installed zoneminder plugin.

that makes sense. Installing zoneminder will not install mythzoneminder, but installing mythzoneminder WILL install zoneminder.
