Hello,
I am working on getting the AirVideoHD server installed on my backend as a way to have access to all of my movies and TV shows. The server itself installs without any problems, however, I am trying to figure out how to install VLC. I work with rpm based Linux systems, but don't really have any experience with Arch Linux. I think I have seen, by using `pacman -Ss` that the repository doesn't have VLC available as an installable. Before doing a direct download of VLC, I wanted to make sure that my searching was correct, as I would prefer to have it installed via the package management program built into the system, if possible.

Thank you,

We don't have VLC in our repo. You could try downloading the Arch VLC package and installing using the pacman -U option. However be aware that could cause issues with updates in the future.

Thanks. I went out to https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/vlc/ and downloaded the package for vlc, which of course needed other packages. in all, I installed:
Code:
libdvbpsi-1:1.3.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
libkate-0.4.1-5-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
libmpcdec-1:0.1+r475-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
libtar-1.2.20-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
libtiger-0.3.4-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
vlc-2.2.4-4-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
zvbi-0.2.35-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

After installing these the AirVideoServerHD (http://www.inmethod.com/airvideohd/index.html) is running successfully on my backend server. I then have directories defined in the server for my Recordings folder (hence my other post) and my videos folder. This allows me to access all of my recordings and videos while away from home, plus there is an AirVideoHD app available for the new Apple TV. I am hoping that this solution will also allow me to have Closed Captioning available on the Apple TV with the recorded TV shows, as that is something missing from the MythTV app that is available for that platform.

Anyway, thanks for the info to help get me started on this.
