The testing repo is currently unstable and will require specific steps to update from it. At this time please do not update any testing systems. Doing so may cause your system to become unusable.

The testing repos were marked as unstable because of a filesystem layout change merging the bin directories. While I am not a huge fan of this we are following the lead of Arch Linux because it makes package management easier with our project.

If you wish to resume tracking the testing repos please update your system by running the following script:
http://cgit.linhes.org/linhes_pkgbuild/plain/abs/core/update81-82.sh?h=testing

There is no backout plan or partial update, once started the upgrade needs to complete or the system may not boot correctly.

The largest stumbling block that will cause the update to fail are non-linhes packages that have been installed. If thats the case the packages should be uninstalled & update the system. After the update it should be ok to reinstall the 3rd party pkg.

The update has been tested many times but there are always unknown factors.
If problems are encountered and the script quits before the update is complete its OK to run the update multiple times.

With R8.2 released and now in the release repos those that were on -testing on production boxes may want to switch back to release. The testing repos could become unstable as work on the next version begins.

There are quite a few updates in the testing repo to many base packages since R8.5.1. I have been running testing on multiple systems and they are working well but would like to ask for some other folks to test before pushing to the release repos.

If you would like to test do:
Make a backup: http://linhes.org/projects/linhes/wiki/ ... nd_Restore
Change your /etc/pacman.conf to point to core-testing and extra-testing
sudo pacman -Syu
Answer Yes to all questions asking about replacing packages
Report your findings back here or create an Issue.

Thanks,
Britney

I may update this weekend if I can get my system backed up first. Any feedback from anybody else yet?

I upgraded this afternoon (Saturday). So far almost all the things I have tested look good. Standard stuff (recording, playback, music, gallery) look good, Plex works fine. However, Chrome seg faults. I did a pacman update and all seemed fine but when run 'google-chrome' I get seg faults. Log message - Chrome_IOThread[17982]: segfault at 20 ip 00007f4e5d94a060 sp 00007f4e49ae9690 error 4 in ld-2.26.so[7f4e5d93e000+26000]

- error while loading shared libraries: libevent-2.o.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Will continue to test thru tomorrow mid afternoon - then I have to revert back.

Both Chrome and libvent were upgraded from the testing repositories - google-chrome-66.0.3359.181-1-x86_64 and libvent 2.1.8-1.

I did the updates this morning and everytime I do updates it seems that I have problems with lirc. This time my streamzap is triple pressing. I have a /home/mythtv/remotes directory and I made sure it was still selected in linhes setup. Ive been poking around in /etc/lirc but havent found anything yet. I will probably take a break for a few hours, but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, I would appreciate it.

I remember that happening all the time... Look at the includes in your /etc/licrc (or just look at the one dated from your update date and make sure /etc/licrc matches). Once you fix that then reboot and check it out...

That's what I've been trying to do. I'm just a little stumped for the time being. If I break something the remote flat out doesn't work. Otherwise it treats every keypress on my streamzap as 3. There hasn't been anything in between. I'm going to take a look through my backup to see how much different the /etc/lirc folder is...

I just downgraded to what is in the core repos and it is single pressing now. Seems to be something with the update...

I take that back. Only some buttons works and lircd does not even appear to be running. If I try to run it there is a shared library error about libsystemd-daemon.so.0. Maybe an incompatibility between the testing and production repos.

I am not seeing the Chrome issue here. And the libevent version shouldn't matter as chrome is not dynamically linked but rather the needed version of libevent should be static in the binary.

Not sure it is related bu what video drivers are you running?

Running release lirc with other testing will not work as you have found. It needed to be built against new libs.

Can you confirm lirc is running with all testing?
Does a single press register 3 events when running irw?

I am wondering if the streamzap was changed in this version of LIRC where now there needs but some repeat adjustments made.
