I've installed a clean R4V5, but I need to sort out a number of major configuration problems before I can call my box "working":

1) No TV sound
2) Can't get UK TV listings
3) Won't play DVDs

I've only just started venturing into the marvellous realm of video/sound under Linux so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction? (and hopefully, I'm in the right forum for this post!)

anyway, here comes the details ...

1) No TV sound

I've got a C-Media AC97 sound chip (onboard Abit Sg-71)

TV card (from dmesg output):

Sound is fine when playing mpeg files, but there's no sound when I watch TV.
However, it's OK if I run awtv and alsamixer from the console.

I'm using mic instead of lineIn as this gave me better volume in alsamixer.
Is it right to have "/dev/dsp" as the audio device in the Capture Card Setup?

2) Can't get UK TV listings:

I've got a Sky box, so I updated the tv_grab_uk_rt, following the instructions here:

3) Won't play DVDs

hda: ST340014A, ATA DISK drive
hdc: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive

mplayer dvd:// -dvd-device %d -fs -zoom -vo x11

I've "chown root:cdrom /dev/scd0" as the device had the wrong group of "utmp".
But I think Knoppix isn't auto-mounting the DVD drive
because if I manually mount the drive as root from the command line,
Myth will play the opening sequence of the DVD but then immediately exits. Crying or Very sad

Any ideas?
