Hi,

what is supposed to work after installation and the first configuration?

I can listen to a music CD and check the weather forecast for my city, but that's about it. I can't watch TV and I can't watch DVD movies.

OK the configuration hangs when it is up to fill the database. It gives some error messages first, but after a while it hangs. Could this depend on my geographic situation (sweden) or is it my hardware?

I have a Via Epia ME-6000, 512 KB DDR-RAM, a Hauppauge PVR 250, a 80 GB Barracuda and a DVD+RW. I also have 2.5 Mbps DSL connection to the internet, so the bandwith should not be that much of a problem.

Maybe the CPU lack some of the features compiled into the code (SSE etc.)

Any ideas would be very helpfull.

Hi again,

I also get a stream of "ivtv: Not enough free buffers, stream 0" continuously on my screen.

not enough free buffers means that the card had a

to handle it, so it dropped the frame.

you can try increasing the value of "mpg_buffers"
(driver load option).. that helps some folks

'modinfo ivtv' will tell you all the options to the
driver

You can find more info on the ivtv mailing list.

You can play DVDs just not encrypted ones. What error are you getting with the database? Sorry, I don't know if it has to do with your location(always wanted to visit Sweden!). Perhaps you can find more info at: http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/ You did install the i586 packages right?

I would suggest you check out /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/ for some help in getting your DVDs to work.

Yes, I installed the i586 packages.

Regarding the DVD problems, I tried to manually to start the Mplayer with a reguar mpeg file. It fails with 'Illegal instruction'. The output tells me that it is compiled for MMX MMX2 3DNow 3DNowEx and SSE. Maybe this is a problem for my simple CPU? I haven't added any extra configs for the Mplayer yet, so i falls back to the default behaviour.
