I built a new myth box last week using a pvr500 card and r5a22 on an Athlon 64 box with an integrated ATI video card.

I have most things set up and working properly, but have 2 major problems.

1) Only one tuner on the pvr500 actually works. If I try to watch live tv off of the second tuner, the system crashes. If I try to record with the second tuner, it records a black screen.

2) When I watch livetv on the first tuner, the audio is often not in sync. If I pause for a few seconds and then start playing, the audio is back. Also, on recordings, the audio is fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help,

~patrick

Well, this is going to be a bit like the blind leading the lame, since I haven't actually setup my MythTV box yet. I'll let you decide if you want to be the blind one or the lame one. ;)

I can't find it again, but I remember seeing something during all my research indicating that you needed to treat the 500 as *two* tuners with two separate addresses rather than one tuner with two devices. That would certainly explain the blank recordings (and maybe the crashes). I've tried googling about again to see if I could find the original reference, but I can't right now. I may try and dig through my history later.

Hopefully that'll at least get you started and maybe kick start someone else's brain who can provide the link I can't find.

Yeah, I had read that too, and my current configuration is 2 devices, video0 (tuner0) and video1 (tuner0), but it only really operates one of these.

did you check your dmesg to see that both turners were detected? I was having problems like this when I first installed on R16. make sure they say something like

Tuner Type 57 under the IVTV section in Dmesg. it might be that only one of your tuners is beind detected...

hope that helps some,

I have a PVR500 and it is working well with RA22 and it autodetected everything during auto-upgrade. I hope you know that some batches of the PVR500 had only one tuner working - you should test it in Windows  and return for an exchange it if it is faulty.

Post the output from "dmesg:grep ivtv" so we can have a look at your setup.

It is a great card only downside is it lacks a remote.

I just noticed that they have release RA26 - has anyone tried this with PVR500? Any improvements?
