I have repeatedly try to boot from a brand-new installation located on an SATA drive. Since I already have multiple linux installations (I run Gentoo); I decided to install from KnoppMyth on my second drive. Using grub, here is my grub.conf entry for Myth:
title MythTV
> root (hd1,5)
>kernel (hd1,5)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.13.2-chw-3 root=/dev/sda6 \video=vesafb:ywrap,mtrr,pmipal,1280x1024-32@60
>initrd (hd1,5)/boot/initrd.gz

The initrd line boots successfully, but when it tries to run the kernel I get the following:
>Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init=
>option to kernel.

My question is whether the code for my SATA driver, a VIA82XX is even included in the kernel. I only see three kernel modules for SATA in /lib/modules, all for different controllers. Anyone have a clue why this isn't booting to the kernel?

Thanks.

Steve
