Hi all.

I finally got all my hardware together and and started installing ra30.2

As I have a SATA drive I've tried following the manual install-guides out there.

On reboot after installation I get a kernel panic message, looks sometjing like this:

Code:
VFS: Cannot open root device "801" or unkown-block(8,1)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,1)

Did I partition the disc wrong or did I put LILO in the wrong place (mbr) or what?

Regards / B

I got a tip from a friend that I'm gonna try when I get beck home after work.

Cancel LILO boot by pressing [tab] (unsure) and type
Code:
boot=/dev/sda1

If that solves the problem I think LILO.conf need to be adjusted to.

Anyone tried it or have more info / ideas?

Cheers / B

Okey.

That didnt help much...

I learned that holding shift down during lilo-boot breaks the boot.

I found some trix and tips here:

I'll try this and see what happens

Cheers / B
