Hi,

I am very new to Linux and will start building a box tomorrow (VIA SP8000, 512mb, 40gb HDD). This will be for audio / video playback mainly, not for TV recording.

So I have the hardware and I wish to run Linux on this box. Can anybody provide any tips as to what I need to download to get started? Do I just need to create a CD from the .ico file and run from there. No other software required?

Any tips on what I need to install would be greatly appreciated.

You can download the ISO from any of the mirrors. Before burning the ISO, it is a good idea to verify MD5SUM. It is also a good idea to read the phamplet.
