This is my first attempt to build MythTV using KnoppMyth R4V3 and so far it's been very easy, but I have run into a problem with the remote control. I am using a Hauppauge PVR250 with the grey remote. In MythTV, the remote does not respond. If I exit out of MythTV and go to the terminal and start the irw program, I get a response from the remote. For example, if I press the CH+ button, irw repeats back:

00000000000017e0 00 CH+ hauppaugegray

pressing all other buttons on the remote respond with the simular output. I'm sure I missed something simple here to not have the remote working in MythTV. Does anyone have any thoughts or can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

search the forums there is alot of information on this, you probably need to configure .lircrc file for buttons, and there are exampels in the forums

Thanks for the quick reply! I looked at the .mythtv/lircrc file. The header in the lircrc file mentioned that it went with the hauppauge grey remote and the script was simular to the one posted at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/lircrc-haupgrey.txt written by Jarod Wilson that I used on my previous MythTV box (before the HD failed with all my Invader Zim and Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes....). I'll try this script and see if it works for me. Can you reconmend and good remote control scripts?

Thanks for you help on this!

no the problem is you probably used the default install instead of selecting i686 and specifying that you had a remote.

and this is talked about several places in the forum as well. If memory serves me correctly the command you need is install-i686-l

Perhaps you didn't install the version of Myth w/ native LIRC?

You are right Xsecrets and cesman. I did not install the i686 packages which has the remote control. I just went with the default, which is the i586 packages. The remote is working. Thanks for your help on this!
